I can’t believe I will watch another K-pop concert this year. It was my all-time favorite girl group, 2NE1. Yes, you heard it right! 2024 is the happiest year for Blackjacks because 2NE1 is reunited on July 22nd. They are not only reunited, but they also have a concert tour entitled WELCOME BACK. Their Asian tour starts on October 4th at the Olympic Hall, in Seoul.
I got a chance to watch their concert at Beach City International Stadium, Jakarta on November 23. I was like on the top of the world. I can’t believe that I watched their concert after 10 years. Same place and, the same memory, but it's merrier because I watched it with my fellow Blackjack friends.
You might ask, "I thought they disbanded years ago. How could they perform again? At several countries?" I also had no idea about it. All I knew I was crying with my friends and we were in awe during the concert because of their top-notch performance and their incredible energy.
Before the concert
The ticketing was held on October 7th through the tiket.com website. Unfortunately, I was in Bandung for a family gathering. Thus, I couldn't join the ticketing war. I kept asking my friends whether they succeeded in securing the ticket or not.
Probably because everyone had waited for 2NE1 for so long the enthusiasm was so high that it was hard to get the ticket, in the end, my friend couldn't secure the ticket.
However, the good news was that YG Entertainment added one more day at Jakarta stop so 2NE1 would perform in Jakarta from 22-23 November 2024. Then, my friend decided to try again to get the first-day slot, but she didn't succeed in getting the ticket.
Then, she asked me to come to Ancol to get the on-the-spot ticket with my other friend. However, I was so excited but also worried, what if we get scammed? However, I tried to ease my mind. I was unsure whether I should join my friends or not because:
1. I wasn't employed
2. I had watched 2NE1 ten years ago
3. But when will 2NE1 perform like this again in the future?
I had mixed feelings that's why I still didn't confirm until it was our monthly meeting in October. I said yes when she asked me to watch 2NE1 although I wasn't sure how could we get the ticket.
During the concert
My friend found a Twitter account that sold 2NE1's tickets. Without further ado, I and my friend checked the account and DMed the account to ensure that the account owner was the real person and he didn't try to scam us. What a great teamwork!
When we finally met the seller, he had the exact ticket category that we wanted and it had 3 seats in a row. Perfect for us!
We were so happy when we finally held our tickets that we took pictures of our tickets. Our friends also gave us bracelets and rings to add more memories not only from the promoter but also from her.
When it was time to enter the concert hall, we were amazed that our ticket could be scanned which meant we were not scammed! We were excited and couldn't wait until we saw 2NE1's live stage in person. While waiting, we took lots of selfies. Sadly, we didn't make it to the photo booth due to the long queue.
We feel thrilled and amazed! It was like riding a time machine. We witnessed their amazing stage presence and gorgeous outfits. We could feel their wonderful energy even from the farthest seat! We sang at the top of our lungs while reminiscing about our youths filled with their songs and antics.
They opened the concert with Park Bom singing Come Back Home and when their silhouettes appeared, we knew that the party had started. Everyone was screaming out loud and we got shivers! Then, 2NE1 sang Fire and we kept singing and screaming until the whole concert. We were partying all night long with 2NE1!
I was crying when they sang Lonely and It Hurts. Suddenly, I remembered the hardships I had this year and the moment that I finally made it until the concert day. I felt so grateful that I was still alive until this year and that I could watch my favorite girl group.
Then, I put my eyes on the crowd. I realized something. I finally reached this life stage. I could live until the day of the concert. I finally saw my favorite girl group on stage one more time. From there, I got some motivation and enlightenment that I need to continue my life because who knows that one day your favorite group will perform again on stage after disbanding for so long?
After the concert
I felt happy, I felt grateful, and I didn't have any regret attending 2NE1's concert because they were worth the wait. I would like to thank my friends too for sharing the same joy and energy.
In the end, I somehow felt motivated to continue living my life. I don't regret staying alive. I'm so glad that I can live until today and I promise to keep finding even the smallest thing to be grateful for.
